MEGA Finland 2011:
Geocaching in Tampere, 12 to 14 August

Dear fellow cachers in Italy!

The first mega-sized geocaching event ever organised in Finland will be held in Tampere next summer, 12 to 14 August. Geocachers and their families and friends from all over the world are warmly welcome to join this extraordinary Nordic adventure!

The main venue of the event will be a unique Geocaching Village just a few kilometres from the centre of the city. In the village, there are several accommodation options for up to 1000 participants. Please visit the cache listing at coord.info/GC2G855.

Once again and on behalf of the great organising teams and all the volunteers:

Welcome to MEGA Finland 2011! Let's meet and geocache in Tampere!

It would be of great help if someone of you could provide an Italian translation of the short ad-like text found above and post the translation here. We'd be very grateful!

Bienvenuti in Tampere, Finlandia!

Dear fellow geocachers in Italy!

The registration to MEGA Finland 2011 is about to be opened. So many of you have already submitted Will attend logs, which is great!

Would anyone of you be interested in translating a relatively short text into Italian? The text includes the basic information of the event in general and of registration procedures in particular.

The translation would be published at the event's website along with other languages.

For the translator I promise either an event geocoin or an event T-shirt for free. Please contact me by email with the translation:[email protected].

Thank you very much in advance!

The text to be translated is as follows:

Basic information
The first mega-sized geocaching event ever organised in Finland will be held in Tampere in the summer of 2011. Geocachers and their families and friends from all over the world are warmly welcome!

The main venue of the event will be a unique Geocaching Village just a few kilometres from the centre of the city, on the shore of the Pyhäjärvi lake.
Start joining this extraordinary Nordic adventure by submitting your Will attend log in the cache listing at [coord.info].

Getting to Tampere
Tampere is easy to reach from all over the world. The international Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is located only 17 kilometres from the city centre. The main railway station with excellent connections to all the other major cities in Finland is located in the very heart of the city. One may also travel to Tampere by bus from all over Finland.

NB! Unfortunately, the organisers are not able to help the guests with any travel or visa-related issues.

Accommodation
The whole Härmälä Camping Area has been booked for the Mega-Event. In the GC Village there are plenty of small cabins, each of which has room for two to five guests. In addition, there is a Summer hotel with both single and double rooms. There are also many nice places for those who are travelling with a caravan or a camper or just with a tent. All the guests staying in Härmälä should make their own reservation via the Härmälä's website. When submitting your reservation, please mention the MEGA Finland event in the space entitled "Order additional information". For other accommodation options please consult the website, where information is provided in English.

Registration: General
Participating in the MEGA Finland 2011 event requires registering for the event. The registration should be done in advance, by the end of July at the latest. During the event no registration is possible neither will there be any other possibility to buy tickets at the event.
Participants of 15 years and over also need to pay the registration fee of 15 euros. Participants of 14 years of age and under can register and participate free of charge.

In connection with registration you may also purchase the event's geocoins as well as T-shirts. You are entitled to a discount of 15 % when you order your products by May 15, at the latest!

Registration fees are non-refundable. If you're not entirely satisfied with the Geocoins and/or T-shirts you've purchased, you may return them to us within 14 days from the date you've collected the products. In case you're not able to collect the products from the event, please provide us with your mailing address and we'll post them to you. You will be asked to pay for the postage before we send the package to you.

Registration: Important procedures!
Please fill in the registration form with great care. The mandatory information is needed for payment control and nametags in addition to helping general arrangements. If a person with no geocaching nickname is to be registered, please use her/his real name instead.

There are two payment alternatives, either via bank transfer (recommended) or via PayPal. In case you choose PayPal, please continue with payment straight from the registration by clicking the PayPal button. When paying via PayPal, a handling fee covering the PayPal costs is added to your bill.
After you've submitted the form we will send an email to the email address you've just provided in the form. The email includes information needed for bank transfer. All invoices are due in seven days. It is essential that you use the reference number when you pay your bill!

After you have taken care of your payments, we'll send another email to you. It may take as long as two weeks because all payments need to be verified manually. The email contains instructions to how to print your event ticket. There is only one ticket per one registration action. Print the ticket and take it with you to the event. Please use preferably a laser printer of good quality and preserve the ticket so that the barcode remains readable. The barcode will be read upon your arrival at the Geocaching Village in Tampere.

Welcome!

The event's programme full of entertaining activities has been published at the event's website megafinland.fi.

Comment by an attendee: There's so much fun to do during the event - will I be able to do any geocaching at all? :D

Register before it's fully booked and join the Italian friends who have already registered ;)
